USA TODAY Sports Super 25 girls flag football rankings entering mid-May
And we’re back! Welcome to Week 2 of the USA TODAY Sports girls flag football Super 25.
Amid the Sunshine State block on the top of the list, there hasn’t been much movement – given the structure of their state tournament, none of the Florida teams have played since the last ranking. (State champs will be crowned this weekend, as something to look forward to.)
But there are definitely movers and shakers elsewhere in the country, including George County in Mississippi and St. Joseph's-by-the-Sea in New York. Both are entering the rankings after strong showings - and a state title for George County - this week. Moving on up.
Note: This ranking (and associated records) takes into account play through the end of Thursday night.
Super 25 flag football selection process
In partnership with the NFL, the teams are determined by a USA TODAY Network selection committee of editors and writers in the participating, officially sanctioned states—Connecticut, Florida, Hawaii, Mississippi, New York, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Washington—and the USA TODAY High School Sports staff.
The process considers factors ranging from last year's results, carryover into this season, and a primary focus on 2026 records and overall performance. A team's state ranking influences its national placement, a process that allows editorial expertise and objectivity to blend with the ever-present subjectivity.
