All-Star Game a ratings winner

• The All-Star Game on Fox drew a 6.9 rating%2C up 1%25 from last year%27s game.
• The ratings spiked at 7.6 at 10%3A45 p.m. ET
• The American League beat the National League 3-0.

The American League and Fox got a win Tuesday night.

The 6.9 rating for the Major League Baseball All-Star game was up 1% from last year's game (6.8) and was the network's highest-rated telecast since the American Idol Finale in May.

The ratings were above a 7 from 10-11 p.m. ET and spiked at 7.6 at 10:45 p.m. ET.

The AL beat the National League 3-0, with one of the highlights being the entrance of New York Yankees closer Mariano Rivera, who is retiring after this season.

AL manager Jim Leyland, wanting to make sure Rivera got into the game, brought him on in the bottom of the eighth inning -- and the AL fielders stayed in the dugout to give Rivera the spotlight for the fans at New York's Citi Field.
