Avast Ye! The Pittsburgh Pirates' treasure hunt is over, and it's time to collect the spoils: new City Connect jerseys.
The team debuted new City Connect jerseys on April 9 at 10 a.m. with posts on official social media accounts captioned, "WE BLEED BLACK AND GOLD."
The drop came after the new jerseys were teased on the Pirates' social media accounts in March and leaked on Reddit and X the same month. Designed in collaboration with Nike, the jerseys offer a twist on the team's traditional uniforms and pay homage to the Steel City's culture.
Here's what they look like and how much they cost for fans.
New Pittsburgh Pirates City Connect jerseys feature black and gold accents, revamped logo

The new jerseys are predominantly black with gold lettering and accents on the neckline and sleeves. Across the chest, the team name is written in gold letters that curve in ways that are reminiscent of a cutlass blade, while player names and numbers cover the back of the jerseys in text of the same color.
The sleeve patch features a revamped version of the team's logo that debuted in 1997, with a snarling buccaneer beneath the text "PGH" and "1887" with a pair of cutlasses crossed in the background.
Fans react to new Pittsburgh Pirates City Connect jerseys
Fans applauded the Pirates for the new jerseys with an overall positive reaction after the team dropped a hype video on X.
"The Pirates have gone from not doing anything right for a decade to doing everything right so far this season," X user @KyleGAdema wrote. "I'm confused, in a good way. Good work!"
"The new jerseys are 🔥," writes @BuccoChavez. "Once a revolutionary always a revolutionary."
"Pittsburgh is on run with jerseys," Nathaniel Neiderhiser writes.
It wasn't just Pirates fans who applauded the drop.
"[A]s a Reds fan, these the best city connects," user @wayfaringjake wrote on X.
The biggest complaint among fans was that there wasn't a jersey at 10 a.m. for Griffin, the 19-year-old rookie infielder who recently agreed to a nine-year, $140 million contract extension. However, MLB's website updated by 10:30 a.m. to show a $50 jersey shirt had been added.
April 9 wasn't the first time fans saw the new jerseys. Pictures of the uniforms were leaked on social media a little more than two weeks prior to the release, with photos beginning to circulate on March 24. The pictures showed the front of a jersey, as well as the sleeve patch and the uniform's back with Clemente's name and number.
Not all fans were immediately on board with the new unis. Some criticized the cost, the look of the hats, and the lack of ready-made Konnor Griffin jerseys at the start.
"No Griffin jerseys being available is going to kill your sales," Jerry Bluffburger comments. "Had my card out ready to go. Unfortunate."
"Those hats are just awful 😂," Ryan Clair writes.
"[B]lack hat looked sm better 💔💔💔," Dev comments.
"Hats cost $53?," Hockey Dog writes.

The new City Connect jerseys mark the second time the Pittsburgh Pirates have collaborated with Nike to create a uniform with inspiration drawn from the Steel City's culture. The team's original City Connect jerseys debuted on June 27, 2023, according to ESPN.
The 2023 jerseys were predominantly yellow with black lettering and accents on the neckline and sleeves, as well as a circular black sleeve patch with the letter "P" at the center. The lettering in PGH on the front of the jerseys featured a texture from the Roberto Clemente Bridge connecting Downtown Pittsburgh to PNC Park.
