Pete Crow-Armstrong sparks controversy with vulgar exchange with fan
Jon HoeflingChicago Cubs outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong is under scrutiny after a vulgar exchange with a Chicago White Sox fan went viral on social media.
Warning: There's NSFW language in the video.
This incident came in the fifth inning on Sunday, May 17 after Miguel Vargas doubled to deep right center field. Crow-Armstrong attempted to make a catch, but couldn't handle the ball after crashing into the wall. That prompted the fan, just beyond the fence, to mock Crow-Armstrong for his failure to make the play, prompting the response from PCA.
After the game, Crow-Armstrong told reporters that "some lady decided to start talking (expletive) and I felt the need to say it back."
The Cubs lost the game, 9-8, dropping the three-game series to the White Sox, two games to one. Crow-Armstrong went 0-for-3. Here's what we know about the incident:

What did Pete Crow-Armstrong say to the fan?
The exchange was brief, but after the woman shouted, "You suck!" to Crow-Armstrong, the 2025 All-Star responded with vulgarity.
Crow-Armstrong was obviously heated in the moment after failing to make the play, which wound up tying the game.

Was Pete Crow-Armstrong suspended for this exchange?
No. Although an MLB parody account erroneously posted on X, formerly Twitter, that Crow-Armstrong was being suspended 10 games, Major League Baseball has not made any such decision.
As it stands, Crow-Armstrong is in the starting lineup on Monday, May 18 for the first game of Chicago's series against the Milwaukee Brewers.
