NBA MVP power rankings by odds: Who's the favorite after Wembanyama injury?
Mark GiannottoAnd then there were three.
The race to win the NBA's Most Valuable Player award for the 2025-26 season has been whittled down due to a bevy of injuries to star players and the league's 65-game eligibility rule for postseason honors. The field could be even smaller by the time the regular season ends in the wake of a rib injury suffered by Victor Wembanyama when the San Antonio Spurs beat the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday, April 7.
Wembanyama is nonetheless one of three players, along with Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic, in contention for the NBA's most prestigious individual award. The third-year Spurs center is nowhere near the favorite anymore, however.
That distinction belongs to Gilgeous-Alexander, who surged in the betting odds in recent days and could be poised to become the 14th player in NBA history to capture consecutive MVP awards. He would be the first back-to-back MVP winner since Jokic accomplished the feat in 2021 and 2022.
Here's a look at how all the NBA MVP contenders stack up based on their odds to win the award during the final week of the regular season:
