East exec: Giannis Antetokounmpo trade likely happening before the draft
Tim Bontemps: In the wake of Milwaukee Bucks co-owner Jimmy Haslam's comments at coach Taylor Jenkins' introductory news conference earlier this month, it seems like the Giannis Antetokounmpo saga could finally get some clarity between now and the draft. And, after years of "will they, won't they," the growing belief around the league is that this time an Antetokoumpo trade will actually happen. "It just feels like they're done with the circus, more than anything," an East executive said. "They seem to want a clean break and to move on."

Zach Lowe: I had breakfast with an agent, a very high-powered agent the other day, and he was like ‘I’m still betting no trade’. And I said really? And he said ‘just go through the exercise. Who has enough stuff and would be good enough with Giannis Antetokounmpo to contend right away?’ — 5/15/2026 Spotify
Milwaukee Bucks center Myles Turner revealed on his podcast with New York Liberty forward Breanna Stewart that former Bucks head coach Doc Rivers “didn't fine anybody ever” this past season, and that superstar forward Giannis Antetokounmpo was the teammate who was most likely to be late for team events. “Guys were late all the time,” Turner told Stewart on a new episode of “Game Recognize Game” that was released Thursday. “Guys were showing up to film whenever they wanted to show up. Guys were missing meetings. It was one of the craziest things I personally ever experienced.” — 5/14/2026 Yahoo! Sports
Antetokounmpo reportedly had one foot in and one foot out this season with the Bucks. That comes to mind when listening to Turner’s podcast comments. “If the plane took off at 2 o'clock, we weren't leaving till 4:30,” said Turner, who left the Pacers last offseason to sign a four-year deal worth more than $100 million with Milwaukee after it waived Damian Lillard. Turner continued: “I'm being so serious, bro. It was crazy, dawg. Guys were an hour late to the plane. It got to the point where I knew not to show up until an hour after they said the plane was taking off. It was crazy.” When Stewart asked Turner which teammate was most likely to be late, he didn’t have to do much thinking. “Oh, that's easy,” he said. “Giannis. Giannis is going to show up whenever he wants, really. I think that this kind of just came with the territory that — and once I saw it was going down, I was like, 'Hey man, s***, more power to you. They ain't going to fine you. S***, do what you do.’” — 5/14/2026 Yahoo! Sports

FullCourtPass: The Warriors are expected to keep the 11th pick of the draft, per @MarcJSpears "The Warriors have that 11th pick and people wondering can they get in the Giannis mix. From what I'm being told today from several people the Warriors like to keep that pick" — 5/14/2026 x.com
Technically, the Heat isn’t eligible to trade its 2026 first-round pick (No. 13 overall) because NBA rules prevent teams from being without a first-round selection in two consecutive years (the Heat sent a top-14 protected first-round 2027 pick to the Charlotte Hornets in the Rozier trade). But the Heat could pick a player on behalf of another team at No. 13 in the first round of this year’s draft as part of a prearranged trade. This means the Heat and Bucks could agree to a trade prior to next month’s draft, but it can’t be finalized and made official until after the draft if the deal involves Miami’s first-round selection. So, yes, you could hear about the framework of a potential trade that sends Giannis Antetokounmpo to Miami ahead of the draft. It just can’t be finalized until after the draft. The Heat would be able to include three first-round picks and multiple pick swaps in a trade offer to the Bucks for Antetokounmpo if a deal is agreed to before the draft. — 5/14/2026 Miami Herald
Jake Fischer on Giannis Antetokounmpo: ‘The Celtics have come out and said that they love Jaylen Brown and that they feel good about him. I do know that Boston made a call to the Bucks before February's trade deadline, but I do not think Boston ever loomed as a very serious suitor, and until I hear otherwise, I don't think they're necessarily going to be either.’ — 5/13/2026 Bleacher Report
Antetokounmpo has one guaranteed year remaining on his contract, giving him considerable leverage over his next destination. The Miami Heat, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers, Minnesota Timberwolves and Cleveland Cavaliers are among the teams expected to pursue him. "Any conversation that the Bucks are going to have with Giannis Antetokounmpo, from my understanding, is going to be a very simple one: 'Do you want to stay here long-term and commit long-term in June?'" Charania said on the Pat McAfee Show on Monday. "The answer, from all accounts, is going to be 'no.' And at that point, the question is going to be: where does Giannis want to go? Where does he want to play for and commit long-term? Because he's got just one guaranteed year left on his deal. You guys know this; especially in the NBA, that gives a player of this caliber a ton of leverage—a ton of sway on where he ends up." — 5/12/2026 RealGM
