Blake Griffin, Taylor Rooks call out 'nerd' Shams for breaking SGA MVP early
NBA insider and ESPN reporter Shams Charania made a lot of folks in the basketball world upset by breaking Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's MVP award early on Sunday morning. That list also includes the studio crew of "NBA on Prime Video", if Blake Griffin and Taylor Rooks are any indication.
On Sunday morning, Charania broke the news on social media that Gilgeous-Alexander would win back-to-back NBA MVP awards. The news is pretty momentous, as the Oklahoma City Thunder big man is now the 14th player in league history to win the MVP in back-to-back years. It's not really a surprise that Gilgeous-Alexander won league MVP, but NBA fans were pretty annoyed at Charania for spoiling the moment less than 12 hours ahead of when Amazon Prime's broadcast was set to announce the news.
And during "NBA on Prime Video" ahead of Sunday night's Game 7 between the Detroit Pistons and Cleveland Cavaliers, panelists Griffin and Rooks took a lighthearted rib at Charania, with the former Los Angeles Clippers player calling the reporter a "nerd" for good measure.
