Report: Ole Miss linebacker suffering from a concussion

OXFORD -- Early indications are that Ole Miss linebacker Serderius Bryant is suffering from a concussion.

Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze said in a text message that Bryant is undergoing more tests but that "things look good."

With 3:41 remaining in Saturday's 41-38 loss to No. 9 Texas A&M, Bryant attempted to make a tackle on Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel. His head collided with Manziel's chest, though, and Bryant was motionless on the ground for several moments.

A crowd of 60,950 was silent as medical responders attended to Bryant, immobilized him and loaded him onto a gurney. Bryant signaled a thumbs-up to the crowd before leaving the field in order to be taken to a local medical center. He was there overnight.

Bryant, a junior, leads the SEC with 11 tackles per game (55 total). His six tackles for loss are the best on the Rebels, and he was added to the Chuck Bednarik Award watch list last week.

He made 12 tackles in Saturday's game.
