As the 2025 college football regular season enters its final weeks, two of the best teams in arguably the best conference in the sport squared off on Saturday night.

And the outcome wasn't particularly close.

Between the famed hedges of Sanford Stadium, No. 5 Georgia rode a big fourth quarter to a 35-10 rout of No. 10 Texas in a game with significant SEC championship and College Football Playoff ramifications.

Coach Kirby Smart's Bulldogs outscored Texas 21-0 in the final 14:20, turning what had been a closely contested 14-10 game into a 25-point laugher.

Gunner Stockton led the way for Georgia, completing 24 of his 29 passes for 229 yards, four touchdowns and an interception, along with six rushes for 29 yards and a touchdown. Arch Manning completed 27 of his 43 passes for 251 yards, one touchdown and one interception for the Longhorns in a losing effort.

The loss was Texas' third of the season, putting its playoff hopes in peril with only two regular-season games remaining — the second of which comes against No. 3 Texas A&M. The Bulldogs, meanwhile, improved to 9-1 and are likely to move up in the playoff selection committee rankings after No. 4 Alabama lost earlier in the day.

It was be the third matchup between the Bulldogs and Longhorns in the past 13 months, with Georgia claiming all three games.

Since an underwhelming 3-2 start to the season, Texas had reeled off four consecutive wins to get back into the top 10 of the US LBM Coaches Poll. Perhaps most encouragingly, Manning had started to look the part of a former No. 1 overall recruit, throwing for 674 yards, six touchdowns and just one interception in his past two games entering Saturday.

Texas vs Georgia highlights

FINAL: Georgia 35, Texas 10

Georgia earns an emphatic 35-10 win against Texas in a matchup of top-10 teams. The Bulldogs outscored the Longhorns 21-0 in the fourth quarter, turning a 14-10 game into a 25-point blowout.

Arch Manning stats

Arch Manning completed 27 of his 43 pass attempts for 251 yards, one touchdown and an interception.

Arch Manning, Texas turn it over on downs

Texas is unable to cut into its insurmountable deficit, with an Arch Manning pass to Emmett Mosley V on a fourth-and-6 from the Georgia 11-yard line falling incomplete.

The Longhorns have been outscored 21-0 in the fourth quarter. The Bulldogs will take over at their own 11 with 2:26 remaining.

Gunner Stockton TD run extends Georgia lead over Texas

After forcing a Texas punt, and after getting a 15-yard punt return from Zachariah Branch, Georgia goes 33 yards in five plays, with Gunner Stockton finishing things off on third-and-goal with a 4-yard touchdown run.

What had been a close game entering the fourth quarter has turned into a blowout, with the Bulldogs up 35-10 with 4:43 left.

Gunner Stockton throws fourth TD for Georgia

That should just about do it for the Bulldogs, who capitalize on the onside kick to embark on a 53-yard drive that's punctuated by a 6-yard touchdown pass from Gunner Stockton to Lawson Luckie.

The score extends Georgia's lead to 28-10 with 8:53 left in the fourth quarter. Stockton's now up to 229 yards, four touchdowns and an interception.

Georgia recovers onside kick

It turns out the fireworks weren't over for Georgia after Gunner Stockton's touchdown pass.

On the ensuing kickoff, Kirby Smart opts for an onside kick, with the Bulldogs falling on the ball and earning an extra possession with 14:20 remaining in the game. It was the first onside kick attempt of Smart's Georgia tenure.

Gunner Stockton TD pass extends Georgia lead over Texas

The Bulldogs start the fourth quarter by getting some much-needed breathing room, with Gunner Stockton firing a 30-yard touchdown pass to London Humphreys right down the middle of the field.

End of third quarter: Georgia 14, Texas 10

The third quarter comes to an end with Georgia holding on to a 14-10 lead over Texas. The Bulldogs are driving, too, with a second-and-3 at the Longhorns' 37-yard line.

Arch Manning TD pass gets Texas closer to Georgia

After going almost 40 minutes without finding the end zone, Texas is able to get a touchdown on the board.

The Longhorns capitalize on Anthony Hill Jr.'s interception of Gunner Stockton, with Arch Manning finishing off the drive with a 7-yard touchdown pass to Ryan Wingo in the back of the Georgia end zone.

With the extra point, the Bulldogs' lead is down to 14-10 with 5:27 remaining in the third quarter.

Gunner Stockton picked off by Texas

What had been a relatively clean game for Georgia just came with its first major mistake.

On a second-and-4 from his team's own 24-yard line, Gunner Stockton tries to find Dillon Bell over the middle, but his pass is picked off by Anthony Hill Jr., who goes down at the Bulldogs' 36.

Prime opportunity here for Texas to get back into the game with about seven minutes left in the third quarter.

Georgia punts

After getting touchdowns on each of its first two drives, Georgia has now punted on each of its past four possessions, including, most recently, its first drive of the second half. Across those four possessions, the Bulldogs have racked up just 64 total yards.

The opening drive of the second half may have been the most maddening, as a 44-yard Zachariah Branch kickoff return gave Georgia the ball at its own 47-yard line.

Halftime: Georgia 14, Texas 3

Georgia sacks Arch Manning

Following the Arch Manning interception — and three straight punts between Georgia and Texas — the Bulldogs end the first half with a 9-yard sack of Manning, taking a commanding 14-3 lead into halftime.

Arch Manning throws interception vs Georgia

The Georgia pressure finally gets to Texas' Arch Manning, who throws an ill-advised interception to Bulldogs defensive back KJ Bolden at the Georgia 16-yard line. That completely erases any scoring opportunity the Longhorns had ... but ultimately proves harmless, as Georgia can't muster a first down after the turnover. Longhorns will have another shot.

CJ Allen injured for Georgia

Though Georgia has an 11-point lead, it may have just lost one of its best defensive players. Linebacker CJ Allen, the Bulldogs' leader in sacks and tackles this season, limps off the field and is examined in the blue medical tent on the sideline. From there, he heads back with team medical personnel to the Georgia locker room.

Georgia punts for first time

For the first time all night, a Georgia drive doesn't end in points. The Bulldogs pick up one first down, but don't get much farther, with a 7-yard completion on third-and-11 ending up short of the sticks. A 41-yard Georgia punt is downed at the Texas 30-yard line, where Arch Manning and the Longhorns will take over with 8:08 remaining in the first half.

Texas punts again

After a 59-yard kickoff return from Ryan Niblett is wiped out by a holding penalty, Texas gets a 40-yard completion from Arch Manning to Emmett Mosley V.

From there, though, the Longhorns are unable to get any farther up the field, with three Manning passes in a row falling incomplete. Texas punts, with Georgia taking over at its own 13-yard line.

Gunner Stockton finds Noah Thomas for second TD to extend Georgia lead

Two drives and two touchdowns for Georgia — from the same two people, no less.

The Bulldogs again have little, if any, trouble moving the ball up the field, going 66 yards in eight plays, with a 30-yard catch from Zachariah Branch getting them inside the Texas 10-yard line. On a third-and-goal from the 4, Gunner Stockton fires a bullet near the pylon to Noah Thomas for the second touchdown of the night from the quarterback-wideout duo.

With the ensuing extra point, Georgia's up 14-3 with 12:49 left in the first half. Stockton is nearly perfect, having completed 10 of his 11 passes for 103 yards and two touchdowns.

End of first quarter: Georgia 7, Texas 3

Georgia will take a 7-3 lead into the second quarter. The Bulldogs are threatening to score again, with a first-and-10 at the Texas 38-yard line.

Texas punts

The Longhorns' second drive doesn't go quite as well as its first, with the Arch Manning-led offense going three-and-out after failing to convert on a third-and-2 from their own 33-yard line.

A 40-yard punt gives the Bulldogs the ball at their own 34.

Gunner Stockton TD pass puts Georgia ahead of Texas

Georgia answers Texas' field goal with something even better. The Bulldogs go 75 yards in nine plays, capped off by a 17-yard Gunner Stockton touchdown pass to Noah Thomas that, after the extra point, puts Georgia ahead 7-3 with 4:12 left in the first quarter.

Stockton's touchdown pass came two plays after he found Dillon Bell for an 11-yard completion on a third-and-10 from the Texas 29-yard line.

Texas FG gets Longhorns on the board

Texas' offense looks effective and poised on its first drive of the game, going 59 yards in 13 plays. Though the Longhorns are unable to make their way into the end zone, they get a 33-yard Mason Shipley field goal to take a 3-0 lead six minutes into the first quarter.

Texas didn't make the trip to Athens alone. Actor Matthew McConaughey, the Longhorns' Minister of Culture (yes, that's the official job title), is at Sanford Stadium to watch his beloved team try to take down Georgia.

Prediction: Texas 27, Georgia 26

This game will be the biggest test of whether Manning truly has turned a corner in what had previously been a disappointing season. Against a Georgia defense that has given up a fair amount of points the past few games, he'll earn a signature win and get Texas that much closer to their playoff dreams.
