Where will Carson Beck be drafted? NFL draft projections for Miami football QB

The 2026 NFL Draft class isn't projected to be the deepest at that most important position: quarterback.

Indeed, only two quarterbacks went in the first round on Thursday, April 23, with former Indiana football star and Heisman Trophy winner Fernando Mendoza going No. 1 overall. Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson was the only other signal-caller taken in the first round, going higher than he was widely projected at No. 13 overall to the Los Angeles Rams.

A lot of questions surround the signal callers behind them, including former Georgia and Miami quarterback Carson Beck. The two-time national champion — albeit as a backup with the Bulldogs — is in the running to be a Day 2 draft selection.

Where will Carson Beck be drafted?

NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero reported Beck could be drafted earlier than he has been projected across many mocks leading up to the draft. Part of the reason is due to the need at the position in this year's draft.

"There's enough teams that have a quarterback need," Pelissero said on Wednesday. "I would not be surprised if Carson Beck goes, I believe he will go in the second round of this draft. And there's at least a non-trivial chance again based on the fact that everybody in the back half of the first round is going to have a second-round grade. I would not 100% rule out the idea of Carson Beck somehow finding his way into the bottom of Round 1."

That ultimately did not happen, and now Beck enters the second day of the draft as one of the top quarterbacks available.

"Took a step in 2025 in Miami as a passer after relying on offensive talent at Georgia. Best in timing-based systems to maximize his anticipation and touch. Struggles when pressured and lacks elite arm strength. Accounted for too many turnovers in college."

Carson Beck NFL mock draft

According to Jacob Camenker of the USA TODAY Network, Beck projects as a potential third-round pick to the hometown Miami Dolphins with the 90th overall pick. He is predicted as the fourth quarterback off the board behind Mendoza (No. 1), Simpson (No. 34) and LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier (No. 85).

The Dolphins brought in Malik Willis to help replace Tua Tagovailoa, but that may not stop the team from adding competition for Willis, who has upside but has only made six career NFL starts.

Beck is an experienced, sixth-year quarterback who started 43 games with Georgia and Miami. He threw for at least 3,485 yards in each of his final three seasons and capped his career by completing 72.4% of his passes for 3,813 yards, 30 touchdowns and 12 interceptions and leading the Hurricanes to a national championship game appearance.
