NFL world reacts to Falcons naming Matt Ryan president of football
Ryan steps into key front office role for Atlanta.
The Atlanta Falcons officially named Matt Ryan their new president of football on Saturday morning. Ryan, a former league MVP with 15 years of NFL experience, will leave his job at CBS and immediately step in as one of Atlanta's key decision-makers.
While fans are thrilled to see the Falcons legend return to Atlanta, Ryan has no prior front office experience, which he pointed out in a statement following his hiring on Saturday.
"I also recognize this side of football is not where I’ve come up," explained Ryan on his lack of front office experience. "I’ve played, I’ve commentated, but I haven’t directly operated. I think I’m humble enough to recognize there will be some baptism by fire, but I’m ready for that."
Ryan may be short on experience, but he has a 14-year working relationship with team owner Arthur Blank and knows this Falcons organization as well as anyone. After helping guide the hiring process, Ryan will essentially serve as the boss for the team's next head coach and general manager.
Let's see how those on social media reacted to Ryan taking over as Atlanta's president of football.
