Nov. 4, 2025, 3:38 p.m. ET

English soccer legend David Beckham added a new accomplishment to his highly successful career after being knighted on Tuesday, Nov. 4, by King Charles III.

The now-Sir David Beckham received the honor for his service to sport and charity in a ceremony at Windsor Castle alongside his parents and his wife, Victoria Beckham.

In a video released by the Royal Family on social media, Beckham is seen kneeling in front of King Charles III before being presented with his knighthood.

"I couldn't be prouder," Beckham said, according to ESPN. “People know how patriotic I am − I love my country.”

Who is David Beckham?

At age 17, Beckham made his professional club debut in 1992 with Manchester United. The now-50-year-old former soccer star went on to captain England’s national team for six years, playing in three FIFA World Cups. His 20-year career included playing in the United States, Spain, France and England.

Following his retirement from professional soccer in 2013 after a short stint at Paris Saint-Germain, he became the president and co-owner of Inter Miami, a club competing in Major League Soccer.
