Premier League standings: Arsenal answers Manchester City in title race

Updated May 18, 2026, 9:32 p.m. ET

Arsenal has one hand on the trophy as the Premier League title race comes down to the wire.

The Gunners secured a massive 1-0 win over Burnley on Monday, May 18, as Kai Havertz scored the game's only goal at the Emirates Stadium.

The win stretched Arsenal's lead to five points over second-place Manchester City, which needs to beat Bournemouth on Tuesday, May 19 to stay in the title race.

Regardless of City's result, Arsenal still controls its own destiny. The Gunners will secure their first championship since 2004 if they win their finale against Crystal Palace.

Mikel Arteta's side is chasing a double this season, as it will face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final on May 30.

Pep Guardiola's side has won six of the past eight Premier League crowns and has spent most of the season chasing Arsenal, which would become the first team in history to finish in second place four years in a row – if it can't finish the job.

The Premier League season ends on Sunday, May 24 with every team in action at 11 a.m. ET.
