USMNT coach Mauricio Pochettino reportedly holds talks over AC Milan job
Seth VertelneyU.S. men's national team head coach Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly eyeing his next move.
According to multiple reports, Pochettino has been in touch with AC Milan over its coaching vacancy. Journalist Nicolò Schira reported that an intermediary offered the coach's services to Milan, while The Athletic reported that Pochettino met with Milan representatives last week.
Pochettino is getting set to lead the U.S. in a home World Cup, but his contract expires at the end of the tournament and he is widely expected to return to the club game.
The Argentine took over as USMNT head coach in the fall of 2024, signing through the World Cup.
Ahead of March friendlies, Pochettino said he was open to the idea of renewing his contract for another World Cup cycle.
"Who knows what is going to happen? Like I said, we are open," he said. "But why not if we are happy and the federation is happy?"

But Pochettino has also been open about his desire to return to the club game, particularly the Premier League, where he managed Tottenham and Chelsea.
"Yeah, I watch a lot," he said in a December interview with the BBC. "The Premier League is the best in the world. Of course I miss it.
"I am so happy in the USA, but I am always thinking about returning one day. It is the most competitive league, and of course I would love to come back again."
Pochettino has never managed in Serie A, but Milan has a vacancy after it sacked Massimiliano Allegri earlier this week. After a strong start to the campaign, the Rossoneri faded late and wound up missing the Champions League by finishing fifth.
One of Milan's biggest stars is Christian Pulisic, a player who will be vital for the USMNT at this summer's World Cup.
Pulisic was outstanding in the first half of the season but like the club, his fortunes dipped in the second half of the campaign. The 27-year-old did not score at all in the second half of the season, most recently finding the net in December.
