She saved for years to give her son the moment of a lifetime

This soccer-loving teen’s mom had a sweet birthday surprise in store.

Hector Vidales had been a devoted fan of the Portugal soccer team since he was 4 years old. Ever since he could walk, he's had a deep love for soccer and even plays it himself.

In 2022, when his mom, Silvia Ramirez, heard the World Cup was coming to Texas, she had an idea. From that moment on, she started saving, dreaming of getting a seat for her son at a Portugal match.

She kept her plan a surprise, sharing it only with a few close family members: her mother, brother and daughter. Silvia was able to get two tickets to the Portugal vs. DR Congo match at Houston Stadium.

As a single mom, being able to make one of her son’s biggest dreams come true meant so much to her. When the day finally arrived, it was everything Silvia had hoped for.

She said the energy in the stadium was unforgettable. Fans were cheering, the crowd was full of life, and Hector even got to see his idol, Cristiano Ronaldo, in person.

“The happiness in his eyes was priceless,” Silvia said.

And while an autograph from Ronaldo would have made the experience even more special, Silvia said simply being in the same stadium as him meant everything to Hector.

Hector turns 15 in August, but thanks to his mom, he got to celebrate early with the gift of a lifetime.
