Spotify is changing its tune on Premium subscription prices − again.

Rates for Spotify Premium will be going up over the next month, the music streaming platform announced on Jan. 15. Subscribers will receive an email outlining the changes to their specific plan, Spotify said in a release.

Spotify said "occasional updates to pricing" enable the platform to "continue offering the best possible experience and benefit artists."

But price increases have been common over the past few years. Spotify last hiked the cost of Premium subscriptions in June 2024, and before that in July 2023.

Here's what to know.

Spotify Premium subscriptions will be increasing by $1 or $2 each month, depending on the plan.

The changes, which apply to users in the U.S., Estonia and Latvia, are as follows:

  • Individual plan: $12.99 per month, up from $11.99.
  • Duo plan: $18.99 per month, up from $16.99.
  • Family plan: $21.99 per month, up from $19.99.
  • Student plan: $6.99 per month (first month is free), up from $5.99.

When is Spotify's price increasing?

Spotify said it will notify customers via email over the next month when their new price is going into effect.

The new prices will apply for customer's next billing cycle. An example email shared by the platform indicated the new subscription rate would start on a customer's February billing date.
