After years of waiting, Grand Theft Auto 6 is almost here.

The long-awaited video game was made available to pre-order globally at midnight ET on June 25, according to Rockstar Games, the developer behind the popular video game series.

While the game does not officially launch until Nov. 19, players who pre-order digital versions of GTA VI will be able to begin pre-loading on Nov. 12 to ensure they are able to play at launch on Nov. 19. According to Rockstar Games, the physical version of GTA VI, containing a download code inside the box, will be available starting Nov. 12 to support pre-loading.

The developer said all GTA VI pre-orders and purchases before Nov. 20 will get the Vintage Vice City Pack, a "collection of items that flash back to when the neon burned brightest." The package is a nod is GTA: Vice City, released in 2002.

Grand Theft Auto 6 is set to release on Nov. 19, 2026.

The regular version of the game is available for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and Series S console for $79.99, while the Ultimate Edition is available for $99.99. According to Rockstar Games, the Ultimate Edition features an "exclusive collection of premium vehicles, weapons, apparel and action threaded across all aspects of Jason and Lucia's story."

GTA VI will be available at the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Rockstar Games Store and global retailers and storefronts, according to the developer.

GTA 6 release has been delayed multiple times

GTA VI was initially set to be released in the fall of 2025, however Rockstar Games announced in May 2025 the game would not be released until a year later, with a scheduled released date of May 26, 2026.

"We are very sorry that this is later than you expected," Rockstar Games said in a news release at the time. "The interest and excitement surrounding a new Grand Theft Auto has been truly humbling for our entire team. We want to thank you for your support and your patience as we work to finish the game."

Rockstar Games said in the news release they needed extra time to "deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve."

In November 2025, the developer announced a second delay, this time establishing Nov. 19, 2026 as the release date.

"We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realize has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve," the company said in a November 2025 news release. "We want to thank you again for your patience and support. While the wait is a little longer, we are incredibly excited for players to experience the sprawling state of Leonida and a return to modern day Vice City," the company said.
