Check the latest TSA wait times at major airports

March 27, 2026Updated March 30, 2026, 10:33 a.m. ET

Travelers in the United States are facing record wait times at airports as the partial government shutdown continues to strain staffing at the Transportation Security Administration.

The ongoing shutdown has caused airport disruptions. Hundreds of TSA workers have quit, and thousands of them have worked without pay. Wait time for the security line could be more than three hours at some airports, causing missed flights and massive delays for air travelers. Passengers at busy airports could wait even longer than the wait time estimates show.

USA TODAY is collecting current wait-time estimates from 35 major U.S. airports on their websites. See wait times at these airports, updated every 10 minutes. See the full page tracker here.

Some airports, including LAX in Los Angeles and JFK in New York, however, have removed wait time estimates from their websites, citing unpredictable passenger volumes and staffing shortages while urging travelers to allow extra time. Hartsfield-Jackson Airport in Atlanta specifically advises travelers to arrive at least four hours ahead.

Some other airports, such as O’Hare in Chicago, do not provide live wait time estimates.
