  • Delta Air Lines is adding more than 40 nonstop flights for college football destinations this fall.
  • That includes routes facilitating trips to University of Miami, University of Florida and Florida State University games.
  • Delta said it will also upgrade dozens of flights and increase frequency across existing routes.

Delta Air Lines has added more than 40 Friday and Sunday nonstop flights to college football destinations this fall, including routes for trips to University of Miami, University of Florida and Florida State University games.

The airline will add and upgrade dozens of flights from September to November, according to a press release published on April 10.

“College football fans plan their entire fall around these games, and we take that just as seriously,” said Amy Martin, Delta Vice President, Network Planning.

That includes flights between Miami to South Bend (Indiana) International Airport for the latest in the longtime rivalry between the Hurricanes and Notre Dame.

The “seasonal boost” will include bigger planes and increased frequency across popular routes in the Southeast and Midwest, as well as additional service from college towns and alumni cities.

“From the biggest rivalries in the southeast to bucket list matchups like Notre Dame at Lambeau, we’re adding nearly 10,000 total seats and larger aircraft this season, because showing up for your team should be the easiest part of game day,” Martin said.

According to Delta, schedules for the new flights were designed "around weekend kickoffs and fan travel patterns."
