Walt Disney World raises ticket prices, making Christmas, other holidays the most expensive

Walt Disney World has hiked its prices yet again, increasing the cost of tickets around the holidays.

Per the park's website, tickets during peak Christmas and New Year's days will now cost $159, up $30 from last year. Prices for dates around other holidays like Memorial Day and Easter have also increased. 

The increases come after Disney announced a new date-based ticket pricing system in October that sets prices based on how popular the day is expected to be. At the time, Disney said one-day, one-park tickets ranged in price from one-day, one-park tickets ranged from $109 to $129. 

According to Orlando CBS-station WKMG-TV and Orlando's Fox 35, one-day, park "hopper" tickets, which let you visit more than one park in a day, also went up, now ranging from $169 to $219 – up from $139 to $189.

The most expensive dates for both ticket options appear to be from Dec. 25 to 31.

“Our flexible date-based ticket pricing reflects the demand we see for our parks and provides guests multiple options to meet their vacation needs," Disney said in a statement sent to USA TODAY by spokesperson Erica Ettori. "As we invest in our parks and expand our offerings, we will continue to look for ways to manage high demand and spread attendance while preserving and enhancing the guest experience.”

Here's how the rest of the pricing breaks down:

One-day, one-park tickets have also increased $10 (for a price of $139) for other busy times of the year, including Easter, Memorial Day and dates from mid-Dec. to Christmas Eve. From Nov. 4 to Nov. 7 tickets are $125, up from $114.

The only price that appears to remain unchanged at $109 are tickets running from late Aug. to Sept., which happens to be during hurricane season in Florida. 

Hopper tickets have increased in a similar pattern. The lowest price option also increased from $139 to $169, however, and are only available in Sept. and a few days in May and Aug.
