In the wake of Spirit Airlines suddenly ceasing operations on May 2, another airline is offering new direct flights – with three new routes coming to Pittsburgh International Airport.
Breeze Airways announced new direct flights and expanded service throughout the United States and internationally, with additional routes to and from Pittsburgh set to launch later this year and early in 2027.
"Whether it's a new destination like St. Thomas or making sure travelers in Atlantic City have affordable options, we're continuing to grow where the demand is – and we're just getting started," said David Neeleman, founder and CEO of Breeze Airways.
These are the new direct flights coming in and out of Pittsburgh.

3 new seasonal flights for Pittsburgh travelers
Pittsburgh travelers will see three new direct flights, with the first available Oct. 1, 2026, to Vero Beach, Fla., according to a press release from Breeze.
Beginning Jan. 7, 2027, there will be additional nonstop routes to two additional locations – Cancun, Mexico, and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
The Cancun and Punta Cana routes are seasonal, and flights to all three locations are available on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, according to a release from the airline.

New route flying to Pittsburgh from Florida
While it won't impact travelers flying out of Pittsburgh, for those looking to fly into the airport, there will be a new route heading into the Steel City. That flight, also nonstop, will come from Vero Beach starting Oct. 1, 2026.
How much do flights out of Pittsburgh cost?
One-way tickets to Cancun start at $179, the same price for a trip to Punta Cana, according to the airline. A one-way flight to or from Vero Beach starts at $89.
The prices are temporarily set at a promotional rate and are subject to change, the airline noted. Blackout dates may apply.
How do new flights impact Pittsburgh's airport?
With the new routes, Breeze will have a total of 18 nonstop routes coming in and out of Pittsburgh, making it the airport's second-largest carrier by volume, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported. Southwest Airlines is the largest.
The end of Spirit Airlines operations impacts 3.5% of Pittsburgh International Airport's traffic. It was the sixth-largest carrier by market share and ceased operations on May 2 following years of financial hardships.
