April 8, 2026, 9:48 a.m. ET

Tori Spelling is feeling "grateful" after she and four of her children were involved in a car accident, which she says could have had a much worse outcome.

The "Beverly Hills, 90210" star, 52, said in an Instagram video Tuesday, April 7, it had been an "overwhelming" past few days after she and her kids were hospitalized following a two-car collision on April 2. Spelling was driving four of her kids and three of her kids' friends when the accident occurred in Southern California.

"We are so grateful and so lucky, because it could have been so much worse," Spelling said, telling fans that she and the kids are "OK" and that "guardian angels were definitely with us that day."

The Riverside County Sheriff's Office told USA TODAY on April 5 that deputies dispatched to the scene found two cars with collision damage, and the occupants were medically evaluated. No arrests were made, and the cause of the collision "remains under investigation," the sheriff's office previously said.

Spelling's spokesperson told NBC News that a driver, who was allegedly speeding, ran a red light and crashed into her car.

"In a split second, I looked to my right and I saw he was coming full on, full impact, into the side of our car, and I turned hard left, as hard as I could, as fast as I could, to avoid as much impact on the children as possible," she said.

Spelling also thanked the first responders and the hospital that "took such great care of all of the kids and myself," as well as everyone who has reached out to offer support. She added that she has "so much gratitude for life, and the bravery of all of the kids in the car, with what they went through."

Spelling shares five kids with ex-husband Dean McDermott: 19-year-old Liam, 17-year-old Stella, 14-year-old Hattie, 13-year-old Finn and 9-year-old Beau. The former couple announced their separation in 2023, and Spelling filed for divorce in 2024.

In December, the "Scary Movie 2" star told People magazine that she is "so grateful" for her co-parenting relationship with McDermott, noting, "We love and care about each other so much, and I was shocked just because I always read horror stories and everyone predicted it to be so messy, the divorce, and it was super easy and loving."
