Tom Holland's Spider-Man reveals new name in 'Brand New Day' footage
Peter Parker and MJ reunite! Here's what we learned from Sony's sneak peek at new film footage from "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" at CinemaCon.

The new moniker Peter Parker assumes in his new life was revealed during a sneak peek of “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” on April 13 at CinemaCon, the annual convention for theater owners and studios.
Spidey star Tom Holland appeared virtually at the event to expound on the film, in theaters July 31.
“I’m sure you’ve seen how big and fun the film is from the trailer and a lot we did in new ways,” he said. “This is the most emotional Spider-Man we’ve ever made and in some ways, the most grown up.”
The clip shown in The Colosseum at Caesars Palace plays off the cliffhanger of “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” where Parker sacrificed his identity to save his friends.
In the new film, Holland’s Parker wanders into a house party, where the host coincidentally has an obsession with finding the identity of Spider-Man. He’s even created a “Spidey tracker app.”
Parker’s romantic partner MJ (played by Holland’s rumored new wife Zendaya) is also in attendance and obviously doesn’t recognize her crime-fighting beau, who introduces himself as “Maynard.” Parker also learns with a painful glance across the room that MJ has moved on with a new boyfriend.
Along with Holland and Zendaya, the film stars Mark Ruffalo, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon and Tramell Tillman.
After debuting as teenage Peter Parker alongside Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther in 2016’s “Captain America: Civil War," Holland headed a trio of “Spider-Man” films: 2017’s “Homecoming,” 2019’s “Far From Home” and 2021’s “No Way Home." Holland’s Spider-Man also appeared in the “Avengers” blockbusters “Infinity War” and “Endgame.”
'Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse' gets a first look
In another part of Spider-Man world, “Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse,” the third and final installment in that franchise, will pick up where 2023’s “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” concluded.
The movie, out June 18, 2027, again features Shameik Moore voicing Brooklyn teen Miles Morales and Hailee Stainfeld as Gwen Stacy, aka Spider-Gwen, Miles’ pal from an alternate dimension.
“We are going places we literally could not have gone before” production designer Justin K. Thompson said at CinemaCon.
In the upcoming film, Miles must make “unlikely allies.” He starts that process by escaping in dramatic fashion from being tied to a punching bag while confronting the villainous version of himself, The Prowler.
“You know what they say – don’t watch the mouth, watch the hands,” Miles says with a shrug.
But he also proclaims his continued mission statement: “I just want to be taken seriously!”
