Christopher Nolan hypes 'The Odyssey' as his 'longest-held ambition'
James PowelLAS VEGAS – Christopher Nolan said that his upcoming film "The Odyssey" was filmed entirely in IMAX during Universal Studios' presentation at CinemaCon in Las Vegas on Wednesday, April 15.
The "Oppenheimer" director called the technical achievement his “longest-held ambition.”
"How do you go about bringing this to a modern audience?" Nolan said of Homer's epic. “‘The Odyssey’ is a story that has fascinated generation after generation for 3,000 years, ... It’s not a story. It’s the story.”

The adaptation of Homer's epic, starring Matt Damon and Anne Hathaway, was a nightmare to film "in all the right ways," Nolan said before showing a teaser for the film that included Odysseus (Damon) leading his men out of the Trojan Horse and the sacking of Troy.
He joked about the size of the cast, saying "it'd be easier to tell you who isn’t in 'The Odyssey'" before praising them and calling Damon, Hathaway and Tom Holland the anchors of the film.

Universal introduced Nolan with a sizzle reel covering his career and the largely theater owner audience greeted him with a standing ovation. He also listed numerous formats in which the film could be shown in theaters.
