Trump's signature will be on US currency soon. Here’s how it may look
President Donald Trump’s signature will be added to all future U.S. paper currency starting with the $100 bill, the first time in history that a sitting president’s signature will appear on American banknotes, the U.S. Treasury announced March 26.
The first $100 bills bearing signatures of Trump and of Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent will be printed in June, Reuters reported.
Two signatures are now displayed on U.S. currency: those of the U.S. treasurer and the secretary of the treasury. Trump’s name will replace the U.S. treasurer’s name.
Other bills with Trump’s name will appear later this year. Those bills may take several weeks to circulate through banks.
Despite images circulated on social media, Trump's image will not appear on U.S. currency.

Why is Trump's signature being added to U.S. currency?
The Treasury Department said the change is in honor of the country's 250th anniversary this year.
“Under President Trump’s leadership, we are on a path toward unprecedented economic growth, lasting dollar dominance, and fiscal strength and stability,” Bessent said in a statement.
“There is no more powerful way to recognize the historic achievements of our great country and President Donald J. Trump than U.S dollar bills bearing his name, and it is only appropriate that this historic currency be issued at the Semiquincentennial.”
The treasury is still producing notes bearing the signatures of former President Joe Biden's treasury secretary, Janet Yellen, and former Treasurer Lynn Malerba.
Treasurer signatures have appeared on U.S. federal currency since 1861, when the U.S. government first issued it.
What other currency will be connected to Trump?
At least two coins bearing depictions of Trump have been approved by the U.S. Commission of Fine Arts, an advisory board whose members were chosen by the president.
- A $1 coin with Trump's portrait.
- A 24-karat gold commemorative coin with an image of Trump.
Neither coin has been approved by the Citizens Coinage Advisory Council, a nonpartisan group created by Congress to advise the treasury on coin design.
Where else has Trump’s name or image appeared?
Trump has added his name or image to buildings around Washington:
- Labor Department: A banner of Trump was hung outside the building in August 2025.
- Agriculture Department: A banner of Trump was hung outside the building in May 2025.
- Kennedy Center: Trump’s name was added to the building in December 2025.
- U.S. Institute of Peace: Trump’s name was added to the building in December 2025.
- U.S. Navy battleship: Trump announced a new fleet of warships to be designated Trump-class battleships in December 2025.
- National park passes: One new design for the annual pass shows the faces of Trump and George Washington, and a second shows Trump saluting. These were unveiled in December 2025.
- Justice Department: A banner of Trump’s visage was hung outside the building in February.
Republican congressional representatives have also sought to rename the Washington Dulles International Airport in Virginia the Donald J. Trump International Airport.
