Dollar General expands same-day delivery to 17,000 stores

Kicking off the new year, Dollar General is expanding its same-day delivery to more than 17,000 locations.

Dollar General announced on Jan. 22 the expansion of myDG Delivery, the company's relatively new service that offers same-day delivery. The service was piloted in about 75 stores in September, expanding to 16,000 in December, just before Christmas, per previous USA TODAY reporting. The service is now available in more than 17,000 of Dollar General's total 20,900 locations.

According to a Dollar General news release, about 75% of the U.S. population lives within 5 miles of a Dollar General, which makes same-day delivery even more feasible for the discount chain. The delivery service is powered by Dollar General's partnerships with DoorDash and UberEats.

Dollar General offers free same-day delivery through February

In celebration of the new year, Dollar General is offering free delivery on one myDG Delivery order through Feb. 28, according to a news release. Customers must have a myDG account to qualify for the discount.

To check if myDG Delivery is offered near you, visit the Dollar General website or mobile app. On the website, click the dropdown menu at the top of the website for which store you'd like to select. Then, click "Find delivery store." Input the address you wish to receive delivery to and see if the retailer offers the service nearby.
