Over 20 At Home stores have shuttered; other locations closing by late October

After filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in June, the majority of At Home's previously announced store closures have been completed, while a handful of locations are set to be shuttered in the next month.

The furniture and home decor retailer based in Coppell, Texas filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy due to broader economic and retail-specific market pressures, according to court documents. As part of the bankruptcy process, the company tapped 31 stores to close.

The majority of closures were scheduled to occur no later than Sept. 30, while three others are set to happen no later than Oct. 25, based on court filings obtained by USA TODAY. But many of the doomed locations have already shuttered.

The store closures come amid an uncertain economic outlook and problems for other big-box stores, including Big Lots, Joann Fabrics, Kohl’s, JCPenney, Macy’s and Party City.

Here’s which At Home locations have already shuttered, and which ones are closing their doors soon.

Over two dozen At Home stores have already closed or are slated to close no later than Tuesday, Sept. 30, according to a review of At Home's locations map, as well as each locations' Google listings and Yelp pages. USA TODAY also attempted to contact each store by phone.
