Is Dunkin' giving away free coffee today? Fans beg 'what's the code'

Dunkin' fans hoping to wake up and smell the free coffee may have to wait a bit longer.

After the coffee chain teased the chance for free coffee on May 19, fans swarmed Dunkin's social media pages for details.

"hey dunkin! big big huge fan… what’s the code for the coffee," one person commented on Dunkin's Instagram.

"Yo drop the code for the free coffees on Tuesday," another commented.

It wouldn't be unlike Dunkin' to offer a limited number of free coffees for Rewards members on its app. Dunkin' gave away free coffees twice last month: once on April Fools' Day and again on April 21.

But as of 8:30 a.m. ET on May 19, a code has yet to appear on the app.

Dunkin' sparked rumors about a free coffee deal on May 19 after sharing a teaser clip on Instagram.

The video shows a "wanted" poster alongside a photo of a Dunkin' iced coffee.

"Bounty: 1,000,000 free coffees," the poster reads. "Tuesday. Turn yourself in to Dunkin."

The post sparked social media frenzy and confusion over whether that meant there were free coffees to be found. USA TODAY has not yet been able to confirm the deal and has reached out to Dunkin' for more information.

Dunkin just launched its summer menu.

The lineup includes new refreshers highlighted by a new Black Cherry flavor, as well as several Oreo-themed drinks. See the menu:
