What is President Donald Trump's approval rating? See latest polls
President Donald Trump called on Arizona to "win those midterms" in an April 17 appearance at a Turning Point USA event.
The "Build the Red Wall" event was part of the conservative organizing group's initiative to bolster support for Republicans in Arizona, New Hampshire and Nevada.
But Trump's approval rating has long been underwater, with some polls showing new lows as the war in Iran has been going on for nearly two months. The U.S. and Iran have continued to quarrel over the Strait of Hormuz, a chokepoint for about a fifth of the world's oil, that has been largely closed since the war started. AAA gas price data shows the national average for a gallon of regular gas is over $4, compared to $2.98 when the war started.
The midterms are usually seen as a referendum on the presidency, so what do voters think of Trump's job performance? See the latest polls:

NBC News Decision Desk poll hits worst disapproval in 2nd term
A NBC News Decision Desk poll, released April 19, found that 63% of adults disapprove of Trump’s performance as president. That's his worst mark from the outlet since he retook office in January 2025. Another 37% of adults said they approve of Trump.
The poll was conducted March 30 to April 13 among a national sample of 32,433 adults ages 18 and over. The margin of error is plus or minus 1.8 percentage points.
The downturn in the president's job approval is largely attributable to souring opinions about the state of the nation's economy and the progression of the United States' joint war on Iran, according to the outlet.
Less than one-third, 32%, of Americans said in the new poll they approve of Trump’s handling of inflation and the cost of living. Another 68% said they disapprove. On the subject of the Iran war, two-thirds of Americans disapprove of Trump’s handling of the conflict, at 67%. Just one-third, 33%, said they approve.
Quinnipiac University: Majority of voters blame Trump for gas prices
A Quinnipiac University national poll found 38% of voters approve of how Trump is handling his job as president, compared to 55% who disapprove, comparable to the poll's results from March 25. The poll was conducted April 9 - 13 among 1,028 self-identified registered voters with a margin of error of plus or minus 3.8 percentage points.
The poll also found a majority of voters (65%) blame Trump for the rise in gas prices, while 34% don't blame him much or at all. It is split along party lines, with a vast majority of Democrats blaming him and a majority of Republicans not blaming Trump.
The poll also asked about Trump's threat to Iran that "a whole civilization will die tonight." Sixty-four percent of voters found it unacceptable, while 28% thought it was acceptable.
