BYU jersey patches: 5 Utah companies that could be sponsors
- BYU has not yet announced if it will add a sponsor patch to its uniforms.
- Several Utah-based companies like Crumbl Cookie and Qualtrics are suggested as potential sponsors for BYU.
College sports programs are always looking to make a buck to fund their rosters in this new era of college athletics.
The jersey patch is now an option, and teams are getting high-six to low-seven-figure deals to put a patch on uniforms.
There is no word if BYU will add a patch to their uniforms, but if they do, we have a list that should be considered.
Crumbl Cookie
Their CEO, Jason McGowen, is already in deep with BYU. He offered to pay for the field storming after the Cougars' win over rival Utah. Plus, he was involved in helping BYU retain head football coach Kalani Sitake from going to Penn State.
Who wouldn’t want to see a giant cookie on the shoulder pad of every Cougar player?
Swig or Sodalicious
The dirty soda trend is huge in Utah, and these two are at the top of the mountain. It is a safe bet that most of those in Provo have a rewards account with both Swig and Sodalicious.
BYU should lean into Sodalicious since the minor league club Salt Lake Bees has an alter ego called the Utah Dirty Sodas, and it is sponsored by Swig. This would create a new “soda wars” in the state of Utah.
Qualtrics
Ryan Smith -- the former owner -- is already throwing money at the BYU basketball program. He was instrumental in the Cougars' landing A.J. Dybantasa and others. So, why not add a patch to every varsity sport on the Provo campus involving his former company?
While this is a billion-dollar company that focuses on internet surveys, it likely would be a very small price to keep their name out there in the public.
Purple Mattress
This humble mattress company started off with viral commercials by the crew from Studio C. It has grown since then to be sold everywhere and is popular. Plus, maybe a side deal for players to get some comfortable beds.
Angel Studios
This is the family-friendly production company that wants to advertise to people who are BYU fans since most are part of the faith. The company started out as a way for people to get edited versions of movies, but it had lawsuit issues. Once that was settled, the company began to offer its own original films, comedy shows, and much more.
Bonus Patch
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
They have the money, plenty of it. Seeing an Angel Moroni or a headshot of Joseph Smith on BYU’s uniforms will never, ever, ever happen at BYU. If the Church wanted to be in athletics, then they would not have allowed BYU-Hawaii and BYU-Idaho shuttered its varsity athletics programs.
There is currently no announcement of a BYU patch, but expect one to be featured on the football, basketball, and likely all varsity programs. It is just another way to increase revenue for the players and the school.
