Ronda Rousey vs Gina Carano picks, predictions, odds

If Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano would've fought 13 years ago, it could've headlined a UFC pay-per-view. The dream match between two legends, two of the most dominant women in mixed martial arts, is still a spectacle in 2026.

Both fighters are past their prime and over a decade removed from competing in MMA, but the intrigue is nevertheless still there — enough to fill up the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California.

The two fighters are two of the most important figures in the history of women's MMA. Rousey made history as the first woman to sign to the UFC in 2013, became the promotion's first women's bantamweight champion later that year and defended her title six times, a record that stood until Valentina Shevchenko surpassed her in 2022. Rousey retired in 2016 following a loss to Amanda Nunes, pursued a pro wrestling career in WWE and became the first female fighter inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2018.

Carano was basically Rousey before Rousey. She made her name in the late 2000s as the first big name in women's MMA in a time when the UFC did not have women's divisions. Carano never officially held a title belt, as EliteXC — the now-defunct promotion where she competed in most of her fights — did not have a championship for women, though they did create a women's 140-pound division just for Carano. She became the first woman to headline a major MMA event in 2009 for her main event bout against Cris Cyborg for the inaugural Strikeforce women's middleweight championship. Carano lost to Cyborg by TKO in the first round, and she has never fought in MMA since. She's had a fairly successful career as an actor in the meantime, landing roles in "The Mandalorian," "Fast & Furious 6," and "Deadpool."
