Where was Caleb Wilson drafted? New Bulls player says he wants to be 'better than Mike'
Scooby AxsonNEW YORK — The Chicago Bulls selected North Carolina freshman forward Caleb Wilson with the No. 4 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft.
Wilson led the Tar Heels in points (19.8 ppg) and rebounds (9.4 rpg) and was sidelined for the last month of the season after breaking his right thumb while dunking in practice. Wilson also missed six games earlier in the season after breaking a bone in his left hand.
The 19-year-old Wilson can play multiple positions thanks to his versatility and is a more-than-capable defender, something Chicago sorely lacked this past season.
Wilson wasn't exactly trying to compare himself to Michael Jordan, a fellow Tar Heel who played for the Chicago Bulls and is one of the greatest players of all time.
"I'm writing my own story, honestly. I want to be better than Mike," Wilson said. "I know it's a lot to go, but I'm writing my own story, for sure. I feel like it's a great pipeline from UNC to the Bulls. I am just ready to keep it going."
"I expect to bring everything I did in North Carolina and more. I've gotten better, and I know I'm going to keep the same mentality and approach toward the game. So nothing will change there. It's just my skill set being able to be shown more."

The Bulls had significant turnover in the front office, with the firing of executive VP of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas and general manager Marc Eversley. Head coach Billy Donovan soon resigned, and Tiago Splitter, who led the Portland Trail Blazers in an interim capacity after head coach Chauncey Billups, was arrested and charged with money laundering conspiracy and wire fraud conspiracy for his alleged part in rigged high-stakes poker games, was hired with the task of getting Chicago back to being competitive in the Eastern Conference.
For now, Wilson addresses their need for more frontline help, and the Bulls can add to their haul as they have the No. 15 pick in Tuesday's draft.
