Kevin Hart, Michelob Ultra want to give a fan a $90K World Cup job

Updated May 15, 2026, 3:34 p.m. ET

As the countdown to the 2026 FIFA World Cup continues, beer brand Michelob Ultra is offering soccer fans a chance at what it calls the “best job in the world.”

The company announced in a recent news release a nationwide search for its “Superior Player of the Match Chief Trophy Officer,” a fan who will be tasked with carrying the Superior Player of the Match trophy to the stadium during the FIFA World Cup 2026 final.

To help launch the campaign, Michelob Ultra partnered with comedian and actor Kevin Hart, who is encouraging fans to submit applications for what the company is calling a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

What is the Chief Trophy Officer role for the 2026 FIFA World Cup?

According to Michelob Ultra, the selected fan will receive two tickets to the World Cup final and earn $90,000 for the job, which the company describes as “90 minutes of work” during the final match on Sunday, July 19.

The role centers around the Superior Player of the Match trophy, which will be awarded after every FIFA World Cup 2026 match through fan voting. Michelob Ultra said the winning applicant should be a passionate soccer fan who can “stay cool under pressure” while handling the trophy on one of sports’ biggest stages.

“This really might be the best job in the world,” Hart said in a statement announcing the campaign. “To go from being a fan watching at home to end up at the FIFA World Cup 2026 final match is something most people can only wish for.”

Hart added that the campaign stood out because it puts fans directly into the experience surrounding the tournament.

“It's the job of a lifetime for a fan, especially in the space of FIFA, a game that's so big already, but still growing,” Hart said. “For a fan to be integrated into such a thing, and be a part of a trophy presentation, and also walk away with a payday that's beyond lucrative is amazing.”

Hart said he has become a bigger soccer fan in recent years after seeing firsthand the global passion surrounding FIFA competitions.

“There’s fans, and then there’s FIFA fans,” Hart said. “There’s a completely different level. People live for the game.”

Want the job? Here's how to apply for the 2026 FIFA World Cup role

Fans 21 and older can apply through Michelob Ultra’s website or by uploading a 90-second video to social media explaining why they are the right fit for the position.

Applicants submitting through social media must tag @MichelobULTRA and include the hashtags #ULTRACTO and #contest. Applications close May 29.

The selected fan will also have the opportunity to carry a newly redesigned Superior Player of the Match trophy created in partnership with artist Victor Solomon. Michelob Ultra said the design pays tribute to the tournament and its host countries while honoring standout performances throughout the competition.

“The FIFA World Cup is where legends are made,” Ricardo Marques, senior vice president of marketing for Michelob Ultra, said in a statement. “This is a once-in-a-lifetime role tied to one of soccer’s most historic moments.”
