Portland Fire draft strategy
"The obvious logic was she's going to be our number one pick," Portland Fire general manager Vanja Černivec. "Bridget (Carleton) is someone that, number one, everybody wants to play with. Her character speaks herself and then what she brings on court on both ends of the floor, it's something it's hard to find new player. So we're very excited to see her excel defensively but also kind of stretch her floor."
Toronto Tempo draft strategy
"We went for teams that had more valuable players that could put us on a path for success immediately," Tempo GM Monica Wright Rogers.Rogers says the 2026 WNBA Draft class is "deep", and the team plans to lean into the draft when it happens on April 13.
Toronto Tempo expansion roster recap
Here's who Toronto selected in a visual form. The standout player on the roster is guard Marina Mabrey from the Connecticut Sun. Mabrey publicly asked for a trade last season away from the Sun, which the team denied. Now Mabrey seemingly moves on to Toronto.
