McDonald's unveils FIFA World Cup meals, collectable cups and toys
McDonald's is getting into the FIFA World Cup in a big way.
Coming to the menu starting June 4 is the FIFA World Cup 26 Meal, which comes with one of nine collectible cups featuring soccer stars such as current USMNT's Christian Pulisic, LAFC forward Son Heung-min, David Beckham and others – including Grimace.
Customers can choose between a Big Mac or 10 pieces of Chicken McNuggets that comes with a limited edition, gold packaged Big Mac Sauce. Breakfast customers can choose between a Sausage McMuffin with Egg or Sausage Biscuit with Egg, both of which come with hash browns.
“Growing up, it was our ritual after soccer tournaments to go to our McDonald's near Hershey,PA for Chicken McNuggets and a McFlurry," Pulisic said in a news release provided to USA TODAY. "To now be featured on a McDonald's collectible cup all these years later is a full-circle moment.”
McDonalds will also offer kids the FIFA World Cup 26 Happy Meal, starting June 9. The meal comes with one of 23 Squishmallows plushies, including versions of the World Cup mascots. It will come in special packaging that include a scannable code that unlocks an exclusive digital game on the Happy Meal website.
"As football icons take the field to unite fans across continents, McDonald’s will be there from the first whistle to the final minute with limited-time meals and keepsakes so fans of all ages can be part of the excitement all tournament long and beyond,” Morgan Flatley, Global Chief Marketing Officer and Head of New Business Ventures at McDonald’s, said in the news release.

McDonald's has a history with Squishmallows
The Squishmallows collaboration was teased by McDonald's in May, when it posted "Hard to pick a fave in this Squishmallows huddle puddle. FIFA World Cup Happy Meal out June 9," to its X account. The company said in the announcement that the toys will be "kitted in unique soccer-inspired jerseys and McDonald’s graphics."
The special World Cup-themed meals come on the heels of the fast-food chain bringing back its Happy Meals with the popular squishy stuffed toys for a limited time.
Those meals include one of a dozen different toys, including a new character named Halley, a previously unseen Squishmallow of the salamander-shaped axolotl type.
