I tried the new Minions meal at Wendy's. I went bananas for this item

Minions have now invaded Wendy's. The mischievous bunch has a new movie coming out called "Minions & Monsters," and the fast-food chain cooked up a new "Minions"-inspired menu to celebrate it.

The Wendy's Minions & Monsters Adult Meal is now available as of Monday, June 15, so I hurried to the nearest location to try it. After ordering through the AI-powered drive-thru, I collected the meal and was told by the cashier that I was the first person at that Wendy's to order the new option.

I arrived promptly at 10:30 a.m. CT, which is when they start serving lunch. The cost came to $14.49, and the meal came in a bag covered with various Minion and Wendy's images, including the Wendy's logo donning a pair of Minion googles.

When given the choice between a Big Bacon Classic and the Spicy Chicken Sandwich, I chose the Spicy Chicken Sandwich. The meal also comes with fries and the most "Minions"-inspired menu item: A Banana Frosty Swirl.

The sweet treat was by far the star of the show. I'm not even a big fan of banana-flavored food items, but this was too good not to love. (It even made me say "Banana!" after a few spoonfuls in my best Minion voice.)

The meal also came with one of four Wendy's exclusive "Minions & Monsters" blind box collectibles. I'm sad to report that my collectible was a monster (The fourth option). I was hoping for a Minion, but that just means I'll have to go back and collect the other three.

I did not try these, but Wendy's also unveiled two new Coca-Cola Freestyle beverages inspired by the film's characters: the Pineapple Minion MischieFizz and the Goomi's Glimey Lime.

Wendy's 'Minions & Monsters' Kids Meal

The fun isn't just for adults. Although the adult meal just became available, the Wendy's Minions & Monsters Kids Meal has been on the menu since June 8. It features:

• Choice of 2-piece chicken tenders, 4-piece chicken nuggets, a hamburger or cheeseburger
• Jr. Hot & Crispy fries or apple bites
• Kid's drink
• One of six exclusive Wendy's "Minions & Monsters" kids' meal toys – James, Henry, Ed, Richard, Goomi and Dort

When is the 'Minions & Monsters' movie coming out?

"Minions & Monsters" will be in theaters on Wednesday, July 1.
