Indianapolis grand prix complete results: Christian Lundgaard surprises himself with win
- Christian Lundgaard makes a daring pass on David Malukas late in the race and rolls to victory on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course.
- Alex Palou, seeking a fourth straight win in this event, finishes fifth.
- Crashes make a mess of the first half of the race.
Christian Lundgaard makes a daring pass of David Malukas on Lap 67 and goes on to win the IndyCar Series race on the 14-turn, 2.439-mile Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course.
That's Lundgaard's second IndyCar win, and first since 2023 in Toronto.
"I didn't really expect this today. I hoped for it," Lundgaard said on the Fox broadcast. "It's been a long wait for this win."
Graham Rahal completes the podium.
Alex Palou, seeking his fourth consecutive win in the event, finishes 5th from pole position. He extends his series points lead on Kyle Kirkwood, who finishes 9th.
Dennis Hauger improves 16 positions to finish 8th. Felix Rosenqvist, who started 3rd, ends up 23rd after briefly getting airborne because of contact with another car.
Mick Schumacher and Santino Ferrucci get tangled in the closing laps, creating some smoke and a Ferrucci spin, but both continue. Schumacher is penalized.
