June 19, 2026Updated June 20, 2026, 2:15 a.m. ET

The United States men's national team has stormed out of the gate at the 2026 World Cup, clinching its spot in the knockout round just two games into the tournament.

Now, who will the U.S. play? And where?

The USMNT qualified for the knockout stage after defeating Australia 2-0 on Friday, June 19 in Seattle. Coupled with the opening 4-1 win over Paraguay, the U.S. has six points in the group and is guaranteed to advance, regardless of what happens in its final group stage match against Turkey.

While fans across the country can prepare for the host nation to try and go for its best finish in World Cup history, things still remain unknown as to what awaits USMNT in the next stage. What it does know is where its opponent will come from, after the U.S. won Group D thanks to Paraguay defeating Turkey later in the day.
