Miffy hops to Starbucks for new collection. See plush, mugs, bags

Miffy is hopping on over to Starbucks.

The Miffy + Starbucks collection releases in U.S. and Canada locations on Tuesday, May 19. First launched in Singapore and the Asia-Pacific, the collection features a Miffy plush sporting a green apron, ceramic mug, stainless steel travel cups and reusable bags.

The collection comes a week after the launch of Starbucks' summer menu, which includes a new Tropical Butterfly Refresher, Horchata Frappuccino, Iced Horchata Shaken Espresso and Unicorn Cake Pop.

The Tropical Butterfly Refresher is made with guava and passionfruit flavors, mango-pineapple-flavored bursting pearls and butterfly pea flower infusion. The drink can be customized with lemonade or coconut milk, too.

Who is Miffy?

Miffy is a minimalist rabbit character created by Dutch artist Dick Bruna in 1955. In the Netherlands, her name is "Nijntje," a form of "konijntje," which means "little bunny." Miffy has pointy ears, chubby cheeks and wears an orange dress.

Bruna's books, which feature Miffy and friends like bear Barbara and brown rabbit Melanie, have sold more than 85 million copies over the years, according to a Starbucks news release. In addition to storybooks, Miffy is a popular icon in fashion, plush toys and now, coffee mugs.
